In 2001, the Paint Center was completely updated as well as the Garden Center. At that same time, an Equipment Rental business and a complete Paintball Supply business was added. The Company invested heavily in advertising after adding these programs to target the do-it-yourself (DIY) customer who was looking for convenience and a knowledgeable staff. These programs added significantly to the Company’s revenue.
Ace Hardware Corporation’s origins date to 1928. AHC became a retailer-owned cooperative in 1976. As of year-end 2005, Ace encompassed a nationwide network of over 5,000 Ace-affiliated stores that generate over $13 billion dollars in retail sales.
